Maropeng Visitor Centre

Maropeng Visitor Centre resumed operations since August 1st 2023, following a temporary closure from July 21st to July 30th, 2023. Kindly note that ongoing construction is in progress to elevate the facility’s aesthetic appeal. Your understanding and patience are greatly appreciated during this period.

PUBLIC NOTICE temp closure
Please be informed that due to onsite construction and maintenance work, the Maropeng A’ Afrika Leisure (PTY) LTD will be closing the Tumulus Building; which houses the Gallery, Permanent Exhibition, Boat Ride, Management Offices, and Tumulus Restaurant. The closure will take place from the 21st July to the 30th July 2023, to allow for intrusive construction work to take place without posing any risks to our visitors and staff. We therefore request that all bookings made for this period be rescheduled to August 2023, as we are concerned about the safety of our stakeholders. Please note that other facilities within the Interpretation Centre Complex (ICC) will be operating fully during this period – these are the Maropeng Boutique Hotel and the Hominin House. However, the Sterkfontein Caves remain closed until further notice. For further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
