Waterford wine-pairing lunch

The Kevin Arnold Shiraz is paired with the main course

Join us on 28 March 2015 at the Maropeng Hotel for a fabulous six-course food and wine pairing featuring wines from the award-winning Waterford Estate.

The Waterford Estate, in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape, is committed to sustainable wine growing and winemaking, and was recently judged as the South African winner of the Great Wine Capitals Best of Wine Tourism Awards in Mendoza, Argentina.

The estate took top place in the sustainable wine tourism and the wine tourism service categories. A food pairing with Waterford wines makes sense because Maropeng is also committed to sustainable tourism, and is a certified fair trade tourism destination.

Enjoy the delicious six-course meal while taking in the magnificent views of the Magaliesberg and Witwatersberg mountains.

Our chef, Zhan Steyn, has created a menu that perfectly matches Waterford wines. The six-course meal includes a starter of springbok carpaccio, citrus soil with pistachio cranberry and cream cheese lollipops, served with a Pinot Noir.

A main of brioche bunny chow with loin lamb cutlets, exotic spiced Brussel sprouts, caramelised baby beets and a coconut carrot puree is paired with Kevin Arnold Shiraz.

The meal ends with two decadent desserts – passion fruit and vanilla cheesecake, moist lemon soil and Turkish delight, followed by a tempura deep-fried chocolate candy bar, both served with Heatherleigh dessert wine.
