The LGBTI community in South Africa and the Chevrolet Feather Awards are celebrating Pride Month and the 10th anniversary of the iconic Civil Union Act. The celebration, termed “The Pinknic”, will be held at the Cradle of Humankind and forms part of the build-up to the eighth anniversary of the Chevy Feathers in November.

The Pinknic is a first for the awards and will include entertainment by LGBTI DJs.

“This is our way of bringing members of the LGBTI community together to celebrate our gains and to have fun. We spend a lot of our time fighting various battles and never take a moment to celebrate the small wins. The Civil Union Act is one of those wins and ought to be celebrated 10 years on,” says Thami Kotlolo, founder of the event.

Date: 15 October 2016
Venue: Maropeng (Cradle of Humankind)
Time: 11am to 5pm

A bus will be made available for the first 100 people to RSVP. There is no cover charge for the event, and revellers can bring a friend and enjoy the festivities. Food, snacks and beverage are available throughout the day for your indulgence.
