On January 28, 2009 we reported on the inadequate signage to Maropeng, the visitor centre for the Cradle of Humankind.

Maropeng had been inundated with complaints from visitors about the poor signage, but was unable to rectify the problem because only the relevant provincial government authorities could address the issue.

The problem has been addressed because temporary signage has been erected. Managing Director of Maropeng Tony Rubin said he was relieved that visitors to the Cradle of Humankind would now be able to find their way to the centre. “We are grateful to the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site management authority for intervening on our behalf and managing to procure temporary signage for Maropeng,” he said.
