One of the most fulfilling and enjoyable parts of our work at Maropeng is the role we play in education. We have hosted thousands of schoolchildren over the years, helping them navigate humanity’s complicated origin story, and (hopefully), encouraging them to be more curious about the sciences.

That’s why we’re excited that we’ll be at EduWeek at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg next week.

The theme this year is ‘‘Advance Education in Africa’’, and the week will see expert speakers and people from the public and private sectors discuss and debate the latest issues facing the education sector in South Africa.

There will also be experts and innovators demonstrating new education solutions.

Apart from hosting memorable and exciting trips through the Sterkfontein Caves and the visitor centre, Maropeng is also a popular overnight school-trip destination. We have fantastic facilities for students and teachers at Hominin House.
