Visitthecradlelater

Whatever the season, the gentle sway of the Cradle of Humankind’s Highveld grasslands will always ease a restless soul. Whether it’s sipping a cocktail overlooking the Witwatersberg mountains or exploring the deep recesses of the Sterkfontein Caves, this fascinating, world-famous destination has something for everyone.

Apart from the wonders awaiting at Maropeng and the Sterkfontein Caves, the Cradle itself offers a heady mix of delights – from superb food and wonderful places to stay to fantastic adventures like floating over a nature reserve in a hot-air balloon.

We’re asking people across the country to stay home and #VisittheCradleLater. For now, we urge you to share your memories of the Cradle and the places you have visited online. Let’s create a virtual experience, reminding everyone of what is waiting in the Cradle when travel restrictions and lockdown regulations are lifted.

From the most familiar vistas to the most sublime, we believe each view will contribute to creating an authentic picture of Gauteng’s own World Heritage Site, spreading joy during these uncertain and challenging times.

Post your photo of your special memory of the Cradle on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, using the hashtag #VisittheCradleLater. We can’t wait to see and share them!

To get the ball rolling, here are some of our favourite visitor photos from over the years.
