Underground Boat Ride – Photo essay of the week

This week’s photo essay depicts the boat ride, which is the first part of the tour at the Maropeng Visitor Centre.

The boat adventure starts at the beginning of time, and takes visitors through an interactive experience of the four classical elements – water, air, fire and earth.

Kids especially love the Maropeng boat ride, which kicks off the exhibition.

The ride goes through a tunnel of real ice, harking back to the many ice ages the Earth has experienced over time.

The final part of the boat ride is dominated by cave structures and the sound of rumblings from deep in the Earth…
