The certificate was awarded as a result of people ranking/rating their experiences at the caves on TripAdvisor.

“TripAdvisor is a worldwide platform that gives us a lot of exposure to local and international travellers,” says Maropeng’s managing director, Tony Rubin.

According to TripAdvisor’s traffic study, South Africa’s destinations are attracting more interest and the country’s tourism market is gaining momentum.

Recent findings of a TripAdvisor TripBarometer study indicated that South Africa appears on the “wish-list” of many potential travellers from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France.

Comments posted on TripAdvisor about Sterkfontein Caves, Visitor Centre and the Maropeng Hotel, are addressed in person by Rubin.

“I respond personally to all comments posted on TripAdvisor. We’ve learnt that responding immediately to consumer compliments and complaints goes a long way towards growing our online credibility as a destination that is switched on and interested in what our customers are saying,” adds Rubin.

The Sterkfontein Caves have already received 66 reviews on TripAdvisor and are ranked number one of two attractions in the Cradle of Humankind. The second attraction is the Maropeng Visitor Centre.
