Our opening hours this festive season

If you're looking for activities this festive season that engage, entertain and enlighten – and afford you the opportunity to travel to one of the most beautiful areas in Gauteng – look no further than Maropeng and the Sterkfontein Caves.

We are open every day from 9am to 5pm throughout the festive season, including Christmas Day and New Year's Day. So whether you've got kids to entertain, international visitors seeking to explore the stomping ground of Homo naledi, or simply wish to experience the birthplace of humankind yourself, we'll be here, ready to welcome you.

If you're coming through to Maropeng on Christmas Day, be sure to join us for a Christmas lunch, either at our Tumulus restaurant or at the Maropeng Boutique Hotel. Our Tumulus menu comprises an extensive three-course buffet, which costs R295 for adults and R148 for children. The hotel's menu comprises à la carte starters and mains and a decadent dessert buffet befitting one of the year's most indulgent days. It comes at a cost of R250 per person.

Of course, don't forget that our 25%-off holiday special applies throughout this time – right through December and January.
