Maropeng recently collected a number of top prizes in the West Rand Tourism Awards.

About 20 Maropeng staff members attended the prize-giving event which was held on Tuesday night, and proudly took home six awards.

The Maropeng Hotel received the Accommodation Hotel award, and Sterkfontein and the Maropeng Visitor Centre received first and second place awards respectively in the Activities category. Maropeng a’ Afrika’s Managing Director Tony Rubin collected the award on behalf of the Maropeng Visitor Centre, and the award for the Sterkfontein Caves was accepted by staff members Peter Mhanaza and Samson Motsapi.

Three Maropeng tour guides were also recognised for their hard work. Gift Sibanda, Lwazi Bonase, Reuben Tsime were awarded first, second and third awards in that order in the Tourism Guide category.

“We were thrilled to receive these awards,” says Erica Saunders, Maropeng’s marketing manager. “We are very proud of our world-class attractions, the Maropeng Visitor Centre, the Maropeng Hotel, and the Sterkfontein Caves experience, and we’re just as proud of our fabulous staff who make our company what it is.”
