Maropeng has scored a double win at the national leg of the 2014 Lilizela Awards.

The awards were held at the Lyric Theatre in Gold Reef City yesterday, 9 October.

Maropeng, the official visitor centre of the Cradle of Humankind, has been recognised for its world-class conferencing facilities in the category Four-star Meetings, Exhibitions and Special Events.

It was also honoured for the unique experience it offers visitors, in the Visitor’s Experience: Roots and Culture category.

“The awards were awesome, absolutely fantastic. We're very proud of the achievement. It's a reward for my hard-working staff,” says Maropeng MD Tony Rubin.

Maropeng educational and marketing executive Magel van de Venter says a large part of the credit goes to Rubin himself for his leadership in the management of the centre.

“We couldn’t have done it without Tony,” she said.

Maropeng picked up the awards in the same categories at the Gauteng provincial Lilizela Awards, held at Montecasino last week.
