The Maropeng Visitor Centre, Maropeng Boutique Hotel and the Sterkfontein Caves have once again been awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. This is the fourth consecutive year that Maropeng has received this award.

Now in its seventh year, the award, which takes into account the quality and quantity of reviews posted on TridAdvisor over a 12-month period, celebrates businesses that have achieved consistently great reviews from travellers in the review period.

Reacting to the award, Michael Worsnip, managing director of Maropeng, said, “It is a real privilege to head an organisation such as this, where staff – from the people who do the cleaning, to the wonderful chefs, the talented guides and all levels of management – all work together to make the visitor experience an entirely memorable one.”

He said what made the experience memorable was that it appealed to people whether they were there for the first time or frequent visitors. They all went back and boasted about their visit to friends and family, he said.

“It is memorable whether you are staying at our wonderful four-star boutique hotel or if you are enjoying a relaxed Sunday lunch at our Tumulus restaurant with its breathtaking views,” Worsnip added.

Worsnip commended the great profile of Sterkfontein and Maropeng and the fact that the attractions are known for some of the most amazing discoveries on the planet, which demonstrate that Africa is the home of the human species, for the achievement.

“We are very proud to have been recognised for the fourth year in a row for the work we do and the standard we endeavour to keep.”
