South African wine connoisseur Andre Craye

The Maropeng Hotel and well-known South African wine connoisseur Andre Craye (read his blog here) have teamed up to bring you Secret Treasures of Stellenbosch, a food and wine pairing event par excellence!

Hosted at the Maropeng Hotel on 7 December 2013, the event comprises a six-course lunch that kicks off at midday, with a specially crafted menu by Maropeng head chef Peter Langa to complement the carefully selected wines.

Craye has been on numerous explorations to find the unknown gems of the Stellenbosch winelands. He brings a passion and enthusiasm for wine that will leave you enthralled and feeling like a wine connoisseur yourself.

The price is R375 per person, which includes the lunch and wine tasting. Any other drinks will be for your own account. As it is also Maropeng’s eighth birthday, each guest will receive a special gift to take home.

Details of the menu are below, but please note that the wines for each course will only be revealed on the day.

Seared tuna served with a parsnip puree and presented with tomato jelly, pickled quail eggs and pea tendrils
