Eggs 1245720 1920

Easter at Maropeng is always an eggciting experience, especially for the little ones, and it makes for a remarkable family day out with plenty of activities for adults, too.

This Easter, while egg hunts and catching up with the Easter bunny keep the kids entertained, the grown-ups can enjoy a beer garden, a live outdoor theatre performance and lovely meals created by our gastronomy trained Executive Chef Peter Langa.

The tours of Maropeng are great for young and old alike, and visitors can explore the exhibition at their leisure. While you find out what you don’t know at the Maropeng exhibition, you can also make a day of it with a tour through the Sterkfontein Caves, only 10kms away.

This Easter at Maropeng you can expect:

  • An outdoor play area and food and beer garden at the croquet lawn – background music will set the atmosphere so while the children get up to all sorts of antics at the Easter egg hunt, adults can enjoy a cool beer, good food and some grown-up talk
  • Regular Easter egg hunts throughout the day (so no shortage of eggs for the kids). Children can get up close to the Easter bunny and have their pictures taken with him – a definite crowd-pleaser
  • Easter Sunday lunch at the Tumulus Restaurant. There’ll be a fantastic buffet available, with a variety of sumptuous dishes on the menu. Cost is R200 per person and R100 per child (ages 4-12). Contact the restaurant for bookings on 014 577 9000 or email reception@maropeng.co.za
  • Something really special at the Market Place; an outdoor theatre production that is an ideal addition to your day out at Maropeng. Catch PAST’s Walking Tall show, where professional performers will take the audience on a highly energetic, fun and informative journey through our distant past at no charge. The show is on at 12pm and lasts for 45 minutes
