Donate blood, save a life
In honour of National Blood Month (June 2014) Maropeng, in association with the South African National Blood Service (SANBS), will hold a blood drive on Friday, 20 June from 10am to 3pm.
Every year, Blood Donor Month highlights the need for safe, good quality blood and blood products. This year's theme, safe blood for saving mothers, is aimed at raising awareness of the requirement for timely access to safe blood in the prevention of maternal deaths.
According to Vanessa Raju, SANBS communications manager, childbirth and other gynaecological complications cause the highest demand for blood daily in South Africa.
"Donating blood is a way of giving life and we welcome the community and visitors to join us in support of this important cause," says Lindsay Marshall, marketing and communications manager at Maropeng.
