Maropeng invites you to begin your married journey at the place where humankind embarked on the journey of life. Overlooking the distant Witwatersberg and Magaliesberg mountain ranges, Maropeng offers wedding couples a variety of exquisite venues to choose from. Whether you opt for the intimate boutique hotel, one of the function rooms in the Tumulus building, the Tumulus restaurant and deck, or even the roof of the Tumulus, Maropeng will tailor-make any wedding to suit your individual style and budget.

Maropeng is the official visitor centre for the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site, showcasing a region in South Africa unsurpassed anywhere else in the world in terms of heritage value. Embracing the themes of sustainability and preserving our heritage for future generations, it is no coincidence that Maropeng is the perfect venue to exchange eternal vows with your soul mate.

With its breathtaking views, the four-star boutique hotel at Maropeng is a serene venue for intimate weddings of up to 50 guests. The hotel has been designed and styled combining modern features with the ancient elements of earth, fire, water and ice. Rough earthen riven walling interfuses with smooth screeded floors inlaid with pebble mosaics and the furnishings are clad in soft fabrics in fiery hues and cool shades, enhancing handmade artefacts. A distinguishing feature of the Maropeng Hotel is attention to detail from the architecture to the smallest finishes.

Depending on the weather, the ceremony can be held in a secluded clearing close to the hotel, amid the natural vegetation that surrounds Maropeng. The reception can be held either at the hotel, or in one of the function rooms at the Tumulus building, depending on the number of guests. The wedding party is requested to book all 24 hotel rooms to ensure exclusivity and privacy.

For bigger weddings, the Tumulus restaurant and deck can be used, or one of the elegant function rooms, which have been designed in the same natural contemporary style as the hotel. The roof of the Tumulus building affords endless views of the distant mountain ranges and the Cradle of Humankind, and is an unusual and romantic wedding venue. Maropeng’s talented chefs will create a gastronomical experience to match the sophistication and exclusivity of the setting.

Allow Maropeng to make your wedding dreams come true.
