New Gauteng logo unveiled at Maropeng
November 7, 2008
Gauteng’s new logo was launched by its Premier, Paul Mashatile, at Maropeng on Tuesday.
The emblem of the province is now a spiral shape made up of multi-coloured dots of increasing size. The dots symbolise a point of ignition where experiences begin and move forward. The logo is accompanied with the tagline “It Starts Here”.
Mashatile said that the new logo also represents the diversity of a “rainbow nation” and the different cultures respresented in the province.
The Premier called on Gautengers to promote the region. “We want every resident, every person and every corporate to use and promote brand Gauteng. We want you to spread the word,” he said.
The new branding aims to make Gauteng attractive to investors, tourists and organisers of major events. It is estimated that the provincial government has spent over R1-million on its fresh look.
