2011 – A year of growth at Maropeng
December 21, 2011
Maropeng Managing Director Tony Rubin
What a whirlwind 2011 has been. Where have the days gone? I’m proud to say it has been a year of sustainable growth at the Maropeng Visitor Centre.
At Maropeng, our most satisfying developments this year have been the increase in school visits and our ability to sustain our visitor numbers of 2010 despite the tough economy.
We have also managed to maintain a guest satisfaction index of between 90% and 91%, based on the eGuest Surveys sent to hotel guests and visitors.
Our large training intervention, during which we embarked on a mentorship programme, was highly successful as it allowed us to watch the incredible development of five supervisors into great potential managers.
We have learnt many lessons from the ongoing monitoring of our property and systems. We strive to improve the visitor experience by implementing changes prompted by our research and international best practice which we have observed.
Our vision for 2012 is to continue to grow the business and help people to understand the very important message of sustainability.
We cannot afford to continue with the destruction of our environment and if we can pass this message on to our visitors and if they, in turn, implement some of the lessons learnt, we will have acted in accordance with our responsibility as a World Heritage Site.
Watch this space for exciting developments in the upcoming year! We wish everyone a blessed festive season and all the best for 2012.
Regards,
Tony Rubin
