Soccer Tuesday at Maropeng – photo essay
The second word on everyone’s lips is “soccer” or something else related to the World Cup. It’s no wonder then that Maropeng’s employees pledged their support for Bafana Bafana by celebrating Soccer Tuesday in their offices this week.
A handyman with heart – Joseph Sello

Joseph Sello may be a somewhat diminutive man, but his personality jumps out at you. He’s one of Maropeng’s dedicated handymen, and has been working at the tourist attraction since August, 2007. He was given the job just a week after being interviewed, a fact that Sello, who was born in Carletonville, clearly still takes pleasure in: “I was a lucky guy!”

Female Australopithecus sediba fossil unveiled at Maropeng

Earlier today at Maropeng in the Cradle of Humankind, Palaeoanthropologist Professor Lee Berger laid out, for the first time ever in public, the fossilised skeleton of a female Australopithecus sediba, discovered in the nearby Malapa Caves in 2008.

Maropeng is playing host to another of the Australopithecus sediba fossils during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. The partial skeleton of a young sediba female will be on display at Maropeng from June 10, for the duration of the tournament, which ends on July 11.
