Maropeng to host international chefs

On 31 August, 34 international chefs participating in the Bidvest World Chefs Tour Against Hunger will be arriving at Maropeng to experience first-hand not only the intriguing origins of our species but some of the best of local flavour.

The chefs will be taken on a tour of the Sterkfontein Caves and the Maropeng Visitor Centre, as well as treated to a uniquely South African meal prepared by Head Chef, Peter Langa.

Sterkfontein Caves voted one of top 50 places to go in SA

A recent survey conducted by Toyota’s Zone Magazine saw the now legendary Sterkfontein Caves coming in as one of the top 50 places to go in the country with a Toyota. The survey took place as part of Toyota’s upcoming 50th birthday, and considering its age in the grander evolutionary scheme of things the brand can be considered a mere infant really when taking into account that scientists have discovered many hominid and animal fossils, dating back more than 4-million years, to the birth of humanity within the caves.

Ongoing innovation drives effective water and waste management at Maropeng

Maropeng situated in the heart of the Cradle of Humankind is one of only eight World Heritage Sites in South Africa, and the only one in Gauteng. With the world’s environmental challenges escalating at a rapid rate, the issues of accelerated climate change, conservation and biodiversity, energy, recycling, waste reduction and food security are becoming all the more pertinent. This growing concern has seen Maropeng joining the global movement to address these issues.
