Stargazing “Living amongst the stars”
he telescope has revolutionised science and astronomy. From the moment a telescope was turned towards the heavens, it became an instrument with which to judge our origins and our fate.
The stars hold many stories about how the universe began. In this event, Maropeng’s resident astronomer Vincent Nettmann will reveal how the stars are related to the origins of humankind on Earth.
The evening begins at 17h00 with welcome drinks and snacks on the Tumulus deck where you can enjoy breathtaking views over the Cradle of Humankind as the sun sets.
The stargazing presentation will be followed by a buffet dinner. Remember to bring binoculars so you can participate in this laser-guided sky tour. Subject to weather conditions, you will be able to observe the summer sky objects and the moon through a range of large aperture telescopes.
The cost for this special evening is R190 per adult and R90 per child (4 to 14 years) and includes the stargazing presentation and a delicious buffet dinner.
